Ms Rabiya Javeri Agha,  Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP)  is a career bureaucrat of the PAS (Pakistan Administrative Service/ ex-DMG). A graduate in Politics and Literature from the prestigious Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts USA, she entered the civil service in 1986.

Ms Rabiya Agha has served the Federal and Provincial Government in several capacities. In her judicial assignments she has exercised ‘first class’ magisterial powers in all districts of Karachi and has also served as a magistrate for the trial of juvenile offenders in Sindh. She has worked as Director General, Federal Ombudsman, Secretary Local Government Board, and Financial Advisor to the Mayor and City of Karachi from 1998 to 2000.

In her posting as Secretary Tourism, she was responsible for the mapping and documentation of heritage sites and indigenous crafts in Sindh. As Secretary Women’s Development Department, she was instrumental in the initiation of free legal aid facilities for indigent women. Prior to this, Ms Rabiya also served as Special Secretary to the Governor of Sindh.

Ms Rabiya Javeri Agha also set up of the Sindh Energy and Power Department and helped formulate the new Sindh Power Policy.

Before joining the civil service, she worked as a full time journalist with the Dawn Newspaper Group and has published over 300 articles on social and cultural issues. She has attended several courses in Management and Public policy, as well as courses on conservation and sustainable tourism. She is a certified mediator from CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution), UK.

Ms Rabiya is married to Agha Jan Akhtar, also a career bureaucrat of the PAS, currently posted as Secretary to the Government of Sindh. They are the proud parents of four sons.
